Why your bill keeps climbing

Electricity is the only utility bill in the US you can't shop. Until now.

Where your $500 actually goes

Of a typical $500 PG&E bill, about $150 is the electricity itself. The rest is distribution, transmission, and taxes. You're paying mostly to move power, not to make it.

The rate-hike pattern

PG&E rates rose 18% in 2021, 15% in 2022, and 36% in 2023. Multiple hikes have already been filed for the years ahead.

The proof is next door

Neighbors on other utilities already pay a fraction of PG&E rates.

Provider Residential rate
Roseville Electric 9-14¢/kWh
SMUD 11-15¢/kWh
Modesto Irrigation 14-17¢/kWh
PG&E (summer) 53-62¢/kWh

Published residential tariffs. PG&E figures include summer Tier 2 plus delivery charges.

Most customers see their power costs roughly cut in half. Your exact numbers come back to you in writing before you commit.

Why this is different

We treat your power decision like a mortgage: numbers first, no pressure.

01

A mortgage broker's rigor, not a sales pitch

Our founder, Peter Galvez, closed over $1B in California home loans across 19 years. We bring that same underwriting discipline to your power decision: site-specific modeling, transparent financing, and honest math before any commitment.

02

$0 upfront, locked rate

No panels to buy and no installation bill. You pay a fixed per-kWh rate from day one, and the brokerage fee is paid by the installer, not you.

Your rate is capped at 3.5% per year max. PG&E's hikes have been 18%, 15%, and 36%.

03

If the math doesn't work, we'll tell you

Not every home is a good fit. We run your site-specific numbers first and say so plainly when the deal doesn't make sense. No wasted time, no pressure.

Common questions

Before you fill out the form.

Is it really free? What does it cost upfront?
Nothing at signing, installation, or after. Our PPA structure is $0 upfront. You pay a locked per-kWh rate from the first day the system produces power, and the brokerage fee is paid by the installer, not by you.
I already looked at solar a few years ago.
The math changed. Solar used to give you a one-for-one credit on every kilowatt you sent back to the grid. As of NEM 3.0, that credit dropped to roughly zero to 8 cents. Without battery storage, most new solar customers now pay PG&E almost as much as they did before, because their excess power is worth almost nothing. That is why we lead with storage and a fixed power rate, not panels alone.
Will you sell my information?
No. Your contact info goes to us for one purpose: getting back to you with your numbers. You can request deletion at info@thesunbroker.com any time.
Who is behind this, and how does it work?
The Sun Broker is owned by Peter Galvez. He spent 19 years in mortgages and closed over $1B in California home loans before pivoting to solar. Instead of selling panels, we broker a power purchase agreement (PPA): a third-party company owns the panels on your roof, and you pay a locked per-kWh rate to them instead of PG&E. The brokerage fee is paid by the installer, not by you.
What happens after I submit the form?
Fill out the form below with your name, email, and any context you want us to have (such as a rough monthly PG&E bill or any shading concerns). We'll be in touch within 24 hours with next steps. No commitment required.
Why do we ask for a full year of your usage?
Because one bill is one month. Sizing a system off one bill is like a trainer who never weighs you. We use your PG&E green-button data to see your real yearly load so we don't oversize or undersize the system.
What areas do you serve?
Northern and Central California, primarily PG&E territory: Sacramento, Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Roseville, Auburn, Chico, Redding, Napa, Fairfield, Stockton, and Fresno. If you're unsure whether you qualify, mention your zip code in the form.
What if I move before the contract ends?
The agreement transfers to the next homeowner with the house. You are not stuck with the contract if you sell.
What if I sell my house?
If you sell, the agreement transfers with the home to the new owner. No payoff needed.
What brands of equipment do you use?
Q Cells, Tesla, REC, Enphase Energy, and Franklin panels and battery systems. Battery options include Tesla Powerwall 3, Franklin aPower 2, and Enphase IQ Battery 10C.
What certifications does The Sun Broker hold?
We're Tesla Certified, Enphase Platinum, and Franklin Authorized. Licensing: HIS #141413 SP and CSLB #1080746.
